This morning I submitted my final draft of the manuscript for my new book, "Back in the Day" uploading the PDF for their approval and publication. Within 48 hours I will receive confirmation that my draft has been approved for publication and advise me that I can order my proof to inspect before actual publication.
The general description of my book, "Back in the Day" is as follows:
"Back in the Day" is the second book in my "life series" which started with "Gibbon's Secrets," and will cover the ten year period from 1945 to 1955. I will share a young man's historical fiction experiences throughout high school, summers in-between, and four years in the Navy.
These experiences and relationships start from growing up in a small town (Curtis) in Nebraska, where a healthy atmosphere was common in the 1950's. I have elected to classify the incidents and individual characters in this story as Historical Fiction to allow the sharing of my recollection of the content and order. The dialogues used throughout the story are the types of conversations remembered by me during the time frame of the story.
Curtis is a small town in the southwestern corner of Nebraska, with a poplation in the 1,000 range during the period of time of this story. The Nebraska School of Agriculture (NSA) was the only Ag high school in the state of Nebraska, and the high school featured in this story.
I secured historical Navy records from the National Personnel Records Center which have made it possible to create a more realistic historical timeline of "Duty Stations" and dates when earned leaves were taken. Actual information about the individual duty stations have been taken from: US Naval Training Center in San Diego CA; US Naval Air Training Center in Jacksonville, FL; US Naval Air Station in Quonset Point, RI; US Naval Air Station in Atlantic City, NJ; VC-4 Squadron at Naval Air Station in Atlantic City, NJ; and the USS Valley Forge, CVS-45 - all which have been included in this historical fiction story.
My "Time Travel Machine" has been totally reconditioned to withstand the rigors of the many trips I plan to take you on - from the first trip back to Curtis (1945 through 1949), then a short experience in college, and finally the trips covering four years in the Navy (1951-1955). Climb aboard and fasten your seat belts for a fictional trip "Back in the Day".....
