Navy Current Activity Photos

When I saw this picture it brought back the memories of the USS Valley Forge CVA 49 trying to refuel one of our destroyer escorts during high seas off of the Azores.  The fuel lines that you see above were snapped like they were spaghetti.  The destroyer finally had to go into the Azores to refuel.

The scene above indicates that at least they had relatively calm seas for the replenishment operation, those were the good times.  It's hard to always pick the calm seas for replenishment - when you need replenishment you don't have the option of perfect conditions.

This is the view we would get when returning from liberty, back to our anchored carrier.  I was always amazed at how gigantic this view made the carrier appear.  The Valley Forge in comparison to today's carriers, like the USS Ronald Reagan show above, still looked huge from this vantage point.

Now isn't that interesting, I wonder how the F/A-18F Super Hornet was weighed - it appears that it could be a portable scale of some kind, and the displayed 43,000 evidently was being shown to someone in the control tower area.

Now you have to admit - the picture above is downright beautiful - the Ronald Reagan Carrier Strike Group in formation, cruising through beautiful waters.

Have a great Easter!

Our US Navy fleet is always out where the action is!

I am probably one of the US Navy's oldest fans, but I always marvel at the fact that our fleet is always out there protecting us, "Out where the Action is".    I continue to pray for all of our Navy men & women out there serving our country to protect us - we must continue to show our support of them through our prayers.  Our church is having an all night prayer vigil for all of our members on our special prayer list and I'll be there from 11:00pm till midnight tonight spending that special hour in prayer, and at that time I will be lifting up special prayers for our US Navy fleet.
